Extract from Brent School Partnership analysis:

"What are the most effective strategies to engage PPG pupils’ parents and the contribution parental engagement makes towards closing the gap?

Feedback from the parent training programme is highly rated. Opportunities for parents include accredited courses in English and computing as well as specific support training for parents so that they can support their children better at home, e.g. Makaton, behaviour support.

There is a close relationship between home and school so that pupils can continue learning in the home environment and parents and families get support from the schools and other partners such as the Children with Disabilities Team.

What next?
Attendance is a key focus for improvement. In addition, the Senior Leadership Team are considering how to increase regulation through biofeedback technology, as well as looking at sensory integrations approaches.

There is a keenness to explore aspirations through inviting higher education students with SEND to visits and exploring ‘threads of thinking’."
